Catching up to life

Hello ladies!

Tonight is scholarship dinner and I hope to see some of you there! Liz and I were avoiding homework last night (it's been a long few weeks...) and were playing dress up. Here's a sneak peak of tonight! (Ps if you take pics tonight, reply them here I'd love to see your candids :)

For you snapchat users out there, yes I did make it my story. Lol

Oh and sorry for the mess lol

Home, Sweet Notre Dame--err, home.

Hello ladies on this unusually warm, snowy day!

Today, I had to clean my car off before it snows again tonight and tomorrow and went out on a little adventure. Here's just a snippet of life on campus. More to come (yes, pictures!) after I finish writing my clinical report...

Yet another reason why I absolutely love Notre Dame: Jim Mitchell, (executive director of risk management, public safety) saw me and Candra digging my car out before we get anymore snow. He was driving at first and apparently broke out laughing as he passed by. The second time he drove past, clearly trying to push us into the snow and get us wet, he asked us if we needed any help and that he was proud of how much progress we got through with the snow (not much, by the way). He offered to get us a shovel and drove away. We didn't think much of it until he came back made me a Candra jump back into the snow, falling. With a completely stoic face, he asked if we were okay and showed us the shovel. At first we thought he was just showing us how to get the snow off (haha, yes we are girls...) but he proceeded to completely dig the car out and drove  it into a shoveled, clean path. He then proceeded to initiate a snowball fight with us (after making a joke about how Wendi's Christmas present to me, a radio transmitter for my phone, looked like a breathalyzer), egging us to get in the car and find a safe, clean, shoveled, salted spot so we would be good for the snow tonight and tomorrow. That's what I call a wonderful staff full of dedication, care, compassion, and true family love. This is yet another reason why I love this school and why I seriously call this my home.

Yep, that was aiming for me and Candra lol. Some of it even ended up on Candra's shoes!

Daydreaming of more sleep

(Shhh, don't tell Angela I'm at the front desk of the admissions office writing about sleep! Haha!)

I forgot to post these gorgeous photos of campus and the neighborhood yesterday on our icy day half day (we nursing majors just got ours day pushed back not cancelled...)

I love waking up to a message like this. Closed would have been better but at least I had extra study time!

En route to campus

I'm a resident but since I live so close by sometimes I just go home and pretend I'm a commuter lol

An icky wet morning.

Oh the ice. Some trees actually lost their beaches yesterday! At the end of the day though it was brightly sunny. Oh weather.

Did you ladies get luckier and get out of classes?

Smiling through the yawns and caffeine chasers

Today was our first full day on the floor for our med surg clinicals. It was a tiring and exhausting, yet  wonderful, fulfilling, and awesome day. I got to see and do so much today with the awesome nurse preceptors in my unit but there's still so much to learn. If today is any indication of the next 5 weeks, I'm so game for it! Bring it on spring 2014!

Me, Andrea, Corrine, Gabby (lol), Rochelle, and Tori as we were leaving the building today. We all really just wanted caffeine at this point. We drove back to campus with homework, a validation to practice, and tons of reading to catch up on!

As someone in our group today said, "smiling though we're tired, smiling through the exhaustion. You learn that this is really what you want in life when at the end of the day you still want to go back on the floor." Nursing wasnt my first choice but it unexpectedly picked me and I'm proud to be a future Notre Dame nurse!

A "what weekend" kinda Monday

If you're on the east coast you probably had some type of warning/almost school closed situation this morning or afternoon. Here in Maryland this morning at 6am for clinicals, I encountered rain...freezing cold rain. When we left there was still none of the promised 4-6 inches of white fluff but rather ice pellets and strong winds. Needless to day it was an interesting morning but there's more! (The good more lol)

Today was the first day of my med surg clinical and I ended up with almost the same girls from my group last semester and the dynamic is definitely still there.

Look at us walking to the parking garage to our cars after our instructor let us out early!

It was freeeeeeezing!

Anyway, this weekend I learned the awesomeness of ebooks and have been holed up wherever I could be with my iPad in tow catching up for my classes. Yeah, it's been that kind of a weekend. It's okay though because today I was able to pick up more of this awesome invention of caffeinated chocolate. It's like the college student's two favorite things while studying! That, or for a mid afternoon break to keep you up at clinicals! Lol

Nursing is tough but I just have to keep chugging on. It's such a rewarding career and every experience I have just solidified that further. I may have to sacrifice my weekends my days my nights and sleep for now but there is a light at the end of this work tunnel. May 2015, here I come!
