Raw Picture Salad

No, I really--I meant the salad part! Who says college eating was ALWAYS unhealthy? Pfft, blue cheese salad, lean pocket, and Perrier. Yes, yes it is all green on my desk. No, this was not St. Patrick's Day--although Happy St. Patty's!
This week has been incredibly all consuming. First, I lost my voice which some of you know is like the end of the world for me (cue the dramatic music)! lol, jk. So, I couldn't sing this week and barely talk, actually. However, in many other ways, it was absolutely productive. On Sunday, I did a group process interview to become an orientation leader again (interviewed Wednesday, too) and yesterday, I got the news that I got it!! So that means you'll definitely see me a LOT this summer! Woot! One of Notre Dame's spring traditions is the Nancy Kreiter Research Day where students from all disciplines submit what they've been working on in and out of the classroom. Fourier Hall on April 26 will be transformed into scientific presentation halls, performances, paper readings, etc. This is my first time submitting a proposal and I hope I get in! I will be presenting on the combination of Romanticism and Baroque using a vocal selection of Bach/Gounod Ave Maria. Why? Well, I'm a huge history geek, I love music, I'm taking an honors Romanticism class and a voice lesson class, we're making some major changes to Campus Ministry, AND I L-O-V-E (yep, bring out the Nat King Cole or Michael Buble version as you may please) Ave Maria. It's absolutely one of my most favorite pieces to sing and I'm so excited to do it! ANYWAY here is what my life has been the last two weeks, raw and unedited (some of these I just have not had a chance to post so here!)

L: I introduced Candra, Chen, and Liz to GroupMe...worst idea ever. R: Alumni Mass for Class of 1959--I got to sing one of my favorite songs and fulfilled my dream of singing Ave Maria in the chapel!

We have a new person in the group--Hershey. We took her along when we went for retail therapy at the mall. Needless to say, task accomplished although my credit card is reeling from it all!

Sweets on campus are always fun. L: Campus Ministry handed out Shamrock cookies on Friday R: When I was working at SLIC the other night, SWEET had an event and gave me and Liz cupcakes. Yum!!

I get to register officially for my first round of nursing classes tomorrow! That, and a summer class for my minor (summer classes in college is not the same in high school, it's actually pretty cool!). Anyway, Happy St. Patrick's Day and don't forget to register for accepted students overnight on April 7-8!

a little glimpse of spring

Just a quick hello as I again sit in my room attempting another round of papers. Oh the college life sometimes. That's okay because this weekend was a BLAST! I promise I will have more to come soon but I just wanted to show you guys this little glimpse of spring this weekend...and the reason why I ended up needing a nap today because I feel like I'm coming down with something. That's what we get for wearing shorts in winter....
This was taken right outside of Doyle Lawn at the hill to the grotto. This was probably attempt number 25 and had to be a screen capture on a video because Candra couldn't get it in time lol.

from dazed to dozed

Hi ladies!

Today my honors class (Romanticism: Infinite Beautiful) went on a field trip (yes, we are in college lol) to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to listen to Debussy, Mozart, and Beethoven for the music section of our course. It's my second time going (thanks to the honors program for both times) and it's still just as awesome. The first time we went, we got to sit all the way at the top feeling like we would fall at any second and today we sat at orchestra level--talk about contrasting views! Anyway, I got to see an old high school friend and enjoyed some culturing. It'd say not be a bad night....

For those of you curious enough to ask, it was BEFORE the show started . I adore cameras but I but them away when I have to! but only then... lol!
...BUT it's now 2 AM and I have major writer's block on this paper! I'm writing about Ebola as an infectious disease, talking about it's history, morphology of the virus, location/distribution, transmission, symptoms, and treatments.

So far I have "Ebola is a fatal viral based infectious disease that plagues primates (humans, monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees."

Ebola is not the nicest of diseases and if ever you hear of an outbreak--run the other direction. It's a fascinating thing to study (in fact I recommend "The Hot Zone") but seriously scary in real life. I hope in my nursing career I will never have to face that. But if I do, I sure hope this papers comes in handy! ...once it gets finished, that is :(

Wish me luck!

a college snow day

 Hello everyone!

It's been a whirlwind of events back to back lately and I can hardly keep up with them! However, my handy camera(s) have been able to capture what I have not be able to update about! Thank goodness for today's snow...err...rain day? Believe me, college snow days are not what they are back in high school--gone are the  days of doing nothing and instead, days off are all about catching up :) Oh, well. What did you ladies do today?

Have you had a chance to read about one of our traditions 100 nights? Well it's mostly for the seniors to celebrate 100 nights before thy graduate! Part of the celebration is the underclassmen lighting the way from the Noyes House cocktail hour to Doyle Formal dinner! Sparklers are an awesome modern twist.

Have you guys ever wondered what happens behind the scenes during admissions events?

When I was first visiting I always marveled at how composed everyone was! Really though, we have so much fun behind the scenes. Here are some of the pictures of moments you may have missed at Scholarship Dinner. Hope you had as much fun as we did!

Can you spot the admissions counselor in this picture? Hint, it's not Brenner! :)

L: Could you guys finish your cake? R: Oh hello there athletes!

We brought over somethings to headquarters (aka Theresa Hall offices) only to realize we were without keys into the building. Our brilliant idea was to take pictures while we wait.

More getting locked out on the left, and out of the heels on the right!

This is what my friends define as support when I have a paper to write for my Saturday class after Scholarship dinner. Watching a movie on my bed with our prospective student (she's leaning back so you can't see her!)
So what's with this "snow" day?

Don't get me wrong, I loved sleeping in until noon but I really expected to be able to go sledding or something! Well, we instead felt too lazy to go out and get lunch/dinner in Doyle so we made red velvet pancakes and experimented with adding coffee to regular pancakes (it was interesting to say the least).

Thanks, Chen, for cooking! Anyway, I should probably get back to my paper now--more soon. Oh and if you're looking for more pictures Admissions will have them up soon!

Just an excuse to dress up

Hello ladies! So much has happened since I last posted but since I have to get to work in ten minutes, I will just give you a snippet. Tonight is Scholarship Dinner and we cannot be more excited to have the brilliant minds of 2017 visit us on campus...well, that and we're thankful for any excuse to look pretty!

I need to charge my camera for tonight (so keep an eye out for me!) but before I do, I just thought to share a sneak peek of what I'll be wearing. I looove me some neutrals :)
